Hi Everyone! I'm new to the site, although I have been visiting it periodically for the past couple of months. This site is fabulous!!! I'm a student at the University of Tennessee and will graduate with a degree in Finance in May '05!! I've been a fan of Alison's for about 10 years now. She and Union Station are the bomb! I've only been privileged to see them in concert three times(once here in Knoxville and twice at the Opry), but I do plan on changing that statistic very soon! Just wanted to let everyone know that I love this site. It's great to meet others who share the same interests and can keep each other up to date with the newest on Alison and the guys! Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,
Welcome to the boards!
I'm curious, do you have any instant messenger programs? I love chatting with new people on here, especially if they're an AKUS fan!
Again, welcome.
- Natalie

Hi all! My name is Emily G., I'm 15, and I'm from Griffin,Ga! I'm a newcomer 2 this site and it already looks really homey and welcoming! I've been around a good bit of country, despite coming from an almost northern territory (St.Louis)!) My grandfather really inspired me to get into bluegrass from the time when I was just a small child through his singing and pick'n on his guitars and banjos in Louisville,Ky. Thanks to his help, I've REALLY learned 2 luv groups like AKUS (my fav.),Earl Scruggs, Nickel Creek, and more! Recently, my parents bought me a nice Johnson mandolin and unfourtunately, there r NO instructors in Griffin (a SMALL town w/little 2 do,but farm) so now: I've got 2 teach myself! I'd really like 2 hear some motivation from ya'll (it would REALLY help) and any advice on those who know what I'm talk'n about!) Thanks 4 ur time! God Bless! -Blue Grass Breeze

I know exactly how you feel, being 15 myself , I dont have anyone teaching me mandolin either. I just teach myself. You can always start with chords and stuff online and go to mandolincafe.com and they have tons of stuff to help. I hope this helps! Welcome to the boards!

You might want to try Homespun tapes as well. There is a website, but yeah they have a Chris Thile one that is supposed to be really good. And Sam Bush too.

Hey everyone. I'm new around here but definitely not new to AKUS. I've grown up listening to Alison. I guess I'll tell you a little about me.
I'm a 16 year old Junior in High School. I live in a small town in West Virginia. I was raised on Country and Bluegrass music. Among my favorites with AKUS are Rhonda Vincent, IIIrd Tyme Out, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, The Isaacs...the list could go on forever. My music style ranges but I'm mostly into Bluegrass and Country.
