I would like to put this idea out there. Wouldn't it be great if Alison Krauss and Andrea Bocelli collaborate on a couple of songs or an album?
If anyone that doesn't know who Andrea Bocelli is, he's a well-known opera singer. The reason why I ask this is because since that Alison collaborated a song with Yo-Yo Ma, why not with with Andrea Bocelli?
What do you all think about that idea? Also, is there anyone else that Alison should collaborate a song or two with?

Not a bad idea, and certainly not out of her capability. As far as who I would like to see her collaborate with, how about Loreena McKennitt? (How many of you know who she is?)
Good discussion. Let's see the ideas!!!

I've heard her harmonize with Kathleen MacInnes for the Celtic song Reul Alainn A' Chuain and did a great job at it! Would love to hear her sing long with Loreena McKennitt, or perhaps even with the Celtic Women to sing some of the Irish/Celtic music.
The reason why I'm suggesting Andrea Bocelli because of how much power he holds in his own voice and I really would love to see how both him and Alison would sing a song (perhaps a Christmas song) or an album. I know that she has to have a lot of power behind that voice of hers and really would love to hear her sing up next to him.

Just as long as she doesn't collaborate with Carrie Underwood or the Dixie Chicks, but Alison of course is a person who says no to no one so it wouldn't surprise me if her singing with them were to some day happen. God bless you and her always!!! Holly

Good duets should be a contrast. Alison did a duet a few years ago with child country star Billy Gilman, who had a high soft voice, and you couldn't tell them apart. Just sounded like Billy singing his own harmony track. Her more recent duet with Dave Stewart was a better example of a good contrast between duet partners; his voice is rough and British sounding, hers was smooth like warm pudding next to it. Also the track she did on Don Williams' last CD, "I just come here for the music" was warm and well balanced. SOOOO, the Andrea Bocelli idea is not bad, he could provide the power while she provides the warm background. But nobody answered the question, if they knew who Loreena McKennitt is or if they understood her music. I'm a big fan of LMcK, have been for years. Very creative. Opinions anyone?

I've heard Loreena's name before, but haven't really sat down to listen to her music. I mean, really to sit down and listen to it. I do agree with what you said about the power that Andrea Bocelli have behind his voice and would love to see and hear about both of them sound together. Is there any way if it can be asked of Alison Krauss and Andrea Bocelli to do a song together?

Oh, another thought. Well, actually, more of a question. Has Alison and Reba ever made a duet together? If not, they should. What do you all think?

Alison and Dan do harmony on her "Room to Breathe" album. I'm not entirely sure of all the songs, but they're definitely on "Once You've Learned to Be Lonely." Alison also produced and did harmony (you can hear her very well) on Reba's "Sweet Music Man" from her "Greatest Hits III" album. (All those years of being a Reba fanatic are finally coming in handy, lol.)

an acoustic duet: Richard Thompson & Alison Krauss >> Taking advantage of Nashville's resources, Thompson and Miller tapped Music City mainstays like Alison Krauss and fiddler extraordinaire Stuart Duncan to appear on Electric. Krauss lends vocals to the meditative, acoustic duet "The Snow Goose," the album's penultimate track. << found here ...

I would love for Alison to sing a duet with Melissa Salazar Porter. Melissa is a gospel singer who has a high pitched beautiful sound so angelic like alison I think they would definitely hit the lottery with a song.

In an interview recently she said she'd like to sing with sound a lot alike Lee Ann Womack....I think that might be a little strange, but hey, I'm up for ANYBODY that'll have her duet with them, and more than the background vocals like with Johnny Mathis.
ANYBODY, that is, except for Taylor Swift, that just wouldn't be right... ;D

I guess we would call that collaboration TSAK - how and why would that be wrong? As Taylor inevitably grows older and mellower she will probably seek Alison or maybe the whole AKUS band out on some concept album. She's got so much money and fame already she really doesn't have to worry anymore about record sales, now's the time for Taylor to get down and funky and do something unexpected!! Like recording with AKUS!! (LeAnn Rimes did it a few years ago!) 'Course, that thing she did with The Civil Wars, that spooky song in which she sang in a style she'd never done before, and that spooky barefoot no-makeup video that went with it, was pretty wild. Anyway, philly, again I ask, how could it be bad?

Well, if TS is able to mature as a singer, that would be fine. But I'd rather not listen to anything like her live duet with Stevie Nicks at the 2010 Grammys.
Maybe some criticism of Taylor has been over the top, likely spurred by jealousy that somebody her age became so big so fast. But even before she got 'swiftboated' by Kanye West during the 2009 VMAs, she had issues about her abilities as a vocalist, and how much she was supposedly using Autotune. Those do not stem from personal jealousy or envy, they're real questions about talent. Until she answers them for real with something other than "Mean", or whatever else she comes up with in the future, people are going to keep asking those questions IMHO...

Here's another thought, wouldn't it also be great to hear Alison Krauss and Tracy Chapman sing a few duet songs?
