If Alison Krauss at 44 years old, continues to perform until she is Willie Nelson's age of 82, humanity will have 38 more years to hear the voice of angels. Along with Union Station, they have brought bluegrass to the attention of a wider audience, along the way winning 27 Grammy Awards and producing songs that touch the soul of our emotions. Alison Krauss along with Union Station, Jerry Douglas, Dan Tyminski, Barry Bales, and Ron Block make the bluegrass instrument staples of fiddle, dobro, guitar/mandolin, bass and banjo sound and feel a sweetness others can only hope to realize. She has collaborated with various artists over the year, the most memorable with Robert Plant and producer T Bone Burnett on "Raising Sand." She is currently out on tour with Willie Nelson, whose career has spanned 60 years. His distinctive voice gives emotion to songs about relationships to life that most people know intimately.
At his performance in Missoula last night, June 17, if you closed your eyes and just listened you would have heard a voice as strong and pure Willie as from 40 years ago. I can only hope that at 82 I am half as good at what I do as Willie Nelson is at what he is great at.
