Ron's CD, "Faraway Land," is excellent. I was wondering how many of you had it and what you thought of it.

I don't have it yet. But my order of AKUS Live in Louisville KY arrived today. Ron is quite the musician, also.
The problem with a CD (vs. audio/visual DVD) is you can't see who is playing (although you can tell at times), and more important, how, what style, etc.
I knew from hearing many CD's/songs that all the band members are good musicians, I can see they are all excellent musicians in their own right. I've seen 2/3'ds of the first DVD, so I will have to continue watching later.
Faraway Land might be a next or near next on the list. I like the "story" Alison told about Ron's "song writing - and then after wine."

"Faraway Land" is on the DVD "Live" I watched the remainder of it last night. A good song.

I think Ron is a fantastic song writer. Whether its him singing his own songs, or AK doing the singing they are all great. His words have made me cry too many times to count !! The cool thing about Faraway Land is that Union Station and Alison Krauss sing/play on most of the songs too. It makes for some good listening.

I also admire Ron's songwriting! He's so awesome at it! What I would give to write like Ronny! He's also one of my favorite guitar and banjo players. I also love that his hobbies are playing music because thats obviously what he truly loves doing. Ive met him twice and he one of the nicest men ever!

I had his CD until majority of my CD's got stolen a few years ago  I have spent the past few years rebuilding my collection. I think Ron is one of the best songwriters out there, but probably underestimated. I emailed him about how his CD touched my life and he actually emailed me back. The songs he writes and the way he stands on his convictions is remarkable. I would suggest the CD to any fan of AKUS. |

Hi all you AKUS fans! Yeah I agree Ron is an excellent songwriter I also left a message on his website & he emailed me back, it's so lovely when folk take the time to do this. My fave songs from his CD would be Faraway Land, Now your Heart has found a Home, Another Life I'm Living On & I love all he wrote for AKUS to sing esp. There Is A Reason His faith certainly shines thru don't you think - an inspiration to me as a Christian. |

That's so cool he actually takes the time to email people back. Ron Block is such an amazing song writer, I've loved Jesus Helped Me To Stand, Be Assured, the beautiful Living Prayer and of of course his own cd Faraway Land. I may not feel what others feel as I'm not a Christian and probably don't relate to them as much as others do...but I can certainly appreciate his song writing ability. He has written some great little gems and always look forward to hearing any of his new material.
