Yes, Alison does have a son named Sam. He either just turned 5 or will be 5 later this month. I think someone told me his b-day was in July.
Alison is pretty protective of him and I don't think she really allows him to be photographed for media purposes. There is a quick shot of him in the "Everytime you say goodbye" video. Also, if you have the Live DVD, I believe he is sitting in the front row and there is a quick glance at him.

They re-released ETYSG last year and the video is like candid behind-the-scenes shots of them on the road and stuff. The performance is from the Live DVD. There are two very, very brief glimpses at her son. I think one is from the side and the other is of her holding him and all you can see is the back of his head.

Certainly, we'd support protecting the privacy of Alison, her ex-husband Pat Bergeson, and their little boy - but, in fairness, I don't think anyone in the thread has been asking for information that would constitute an intrusion. The videos being discussed have been officially released, after all. In similar vein, the following article has been published in "Bluegrass Now", so it is already publicly available. It contains a couple of references to looking after Sam - they are nice references, but as it is not written by Alison herself, please make up your own minds as to whether you would want to read it. www.wrightforyou.com/sotumeredithbub.html |

As for getting into Alison's personal life, I agree with you Bingo, I don't think anyone one on here has tried to intrude on her's. I also don't think it's fair to say 'I'm sure her true fans would not care to dig into her personal life..'. I may have taken it the wrong way, but I think it insinuates that if you do try to find out more about her, you are not as true of a fan. But again, I don't think anyone on here has ever really paid too much attention to finding out more about Alison. However, this is all only my thoughts about it, and in no way am I trying to say what is right or wrong, or what to think. Anyway, I have actually come across that article before, Bingo. I love that not only does it talk about Meredith watching Sam and things like that, but I love everything she says about Alison and the guys. She seems to admire them as not only as musicians, but as people. They are so down-to-earth, which we don't always get too much of in music today.

Well, I, for one, am shocked that that article was written! Alison always seems so private! Is anyone else surprised to see that article? And is Meredith still the nanny? I read somewhere (I think on another post) that she had a manny now. I wonder why Meredith is not the nanny anymore. And didn't her husband get fired from the Del McCoury band?

I am not really too shocked. There are many articles and interveiws that I've come across that talk about Alison and her life outside of music. I don't really think she's all that private. Well, I mean with talking about things. I know she is pretty protective about Sam though, with not putting out pictures or things out there of him, but I think that's what many momma's would do for their kids. And I don't think the article was trying to focus so much on Alison and Sam as Meredith's own life and future.. that's what I got from it. So no, I wasn't really too surprized myself to see the article. As for the nanny thing, I don't have any idea.

I don't see what's wrong with wanting to know more about your favorite performer(s). When people are in the public eye people are naturally going to be curious about them. It's not like Alison has the papparazzi outside of her window at three A.M. I know that she is more private then a lot of celebrities, I think that had to do with the stalker that she had several years ago.
