Is your church large or small. I am kind of burned out on church, I went most of my life and the best times were when I went to Gary Mcspadden's church. (Christian Center) it too was interdenominational. I spent the the best 7 years of my life there, growing up as a teen. I've not found another like it. So Sarah stay in church!!!!

hangman, I've always been curious about how it works at a non-denoninational church. What's a typical sermon like?

eyesof love...It depends on the pastor at the church, Gary was not a "fire & brimstone" preacher,he would talk to the congregation, and put ideas in your head, He is a great storyteller, but the stories he told applied everything to the Bible and everyday life. He once even brought a soap opera into one of the sermons about how they make you hang until the next day, I am sorry I don't remember the topic. And he still does that. I am being stingy here, I wish God had not called him to go with the Gaithers in 1977. Christian Center had a pentecostal background, but people did not go crazy, running around the church, this was a very busy high activity church, it was for me anyway. I don't remember there being any rules, there were no classes to attend, to see if your "right" for the church, I walked into that one time and walked right back out. Funny that this church topic has come up, because I find myself, needing to get back in church. I have been away from it for five years. If you would like to talk more about this, I can give you my e-mail, I don't know if it's really appropriate to talk about this on the AKUS board.

Yes, I'm always up for a good chat on church. I guess in a way, the idea of staying away from the "fire and brimstone" is what has always concerned me about churches (I won't say nondemonitational, because I'm certain it's not unique to them). I guess it's hard to explain what I mean, but yeah, if you'd like to discuss it through email I'd love to. I don't want to offend or hurt anyone's feelings here...it's not meant to be a debate board and whenever religion is brought into the mix, conflict usually flares.
