Well...things didn't go exactly as planned. :\ We got there and went to the box office, and the tickets were there but not the meet and greets. :(4 The lady in the box office was pretty nice and tried to help, but then we talked to one of the promoters, and she was a total dickwad and said that if we didn't win the passes from her radio station, we weren't getting backstage. Bitch.:fu2 Not all hope is lost though, because it was just announced that they're playing the Stanley Theatre in Utica on July 10th. Well, Utica's a mere 10 minutes from where I live, so I'll be damned if I'm missing that show and the radio station that Ella, the lady I babysit for, works at is the only country station in Utica, so chances are they will be the promoters and she'll be able to get me the passes for real this time.
Anyways, that small disappointment aside, it was an
amazing concert. The tickets Ella got me were soooooo much better than the ones I had - 11 rows back from the stage and practically smack-dab in the middle of the theatre - so we had a great view.
The guys all looked very nice. Jerry wore jeans and a pink shirt (pink, Jerry? Why? So unmanly...), Dan wore jeans and a white shirt, Ron wore black pants and a light blue shirt, Barry wore jeans and a striped shirt, and Larry wore jeans and a black shirt. Alison wore loose-fitting black pants with white pinstripes and a pale lavender turtleneck sweater. Not very flattering, and kind of a disappointment considering how hot she looked in the Restless video, but whatever. (Not that I gave a shit, but my dad was disappointed.)
They started playing right at 8PM, and played for almost 2 1/2 hours!!! Talk about getting your money's worth! they played:
Restless
This Sad Song
Unionhouse Branch
Goodbye Is All We Have
Wouldn't Be So Bad
Rain Please Go Away
Every Time You Say Goodbye
Bright Sunny South
Little Liza Jane (I think, though I may have gotten the name mixed up with another of their instrumental songs...)
It Don't Matter Now
Forget About It
Gravity
In The Morning Light (from Ron's solo album)

/Little Martha/Monkey Let The Hogs Out (medly by Jerry...the first song was a new one that is on his upcoming album)
Tribute To Peador O'Donnell (another instrumental by Jerry)
Pastures Of Plenty
Poor Old Heart
Man Of Constant Sorrow
We Hide And Seek
The Lucky One
Baby Now That I Found You
When You Say Nothing At All
If I Didn't Know Any Better
Oh Atlanta
You Will Be My Ain True Love (sung a cappella by Alison, with Dan singing harmony)
Down In The River To Pray (sung a cappella by Alison, with Dan, Ron, and Barry singing harmony)
Living Prayer
Each and every song was absolutely amazing. Alison is just so pitch-perfect it isn't even funny. I've never heard anyone sing that perfectly live. Just incredible. Unbelievable. It should be illegal for one person to be so talented. I mean, share the wealth.

And the guys definately don't play second fiddle to her...each and every one of them is just as good. And of course Alison was totally hysterical. Silly girl thought it was cold here in NY yesterday, though. She said, "When we left Tennessee, it was spring. Here, well, it's spring but a different kind of spring. Kinda chilly. Gotta wear a jacket. But that's OK, I'm sure in a few weeks it'll be...springier? springer? more springy?..." and then went on for 5 minutes trying to figure out what word was right. Heh. But the point it, it was 70 degrees! 70! A little chilly? Honey, that's not spring for us up here in the land of six-month-long winters. That's summer. Don't come back in January...
