I play the drums, guitar, and know the basics of the bass and piano. I grew up in a musical family. My parents and my aunt traveled around Ohio and PA in a southern gospel group when me and my brother and sister were little and my brother and sister are both musicians. The only person who doesn't play anything is my mom but she sings. Nobody really inspired me to play certain instruments but my family but Alison got me started on wanting to actually do music for a living. I would LOVE to play the fiddle but i just figure it's a little late if i ever wanna be good enough. I only have names for my guitar and bass. I names my guitar Gracie, because i love that name but i always forgot it so i needed a way to remember it, lol ,and my bass's name is Rev. Sort of a long story w/ that name but its catchy!

Guitar, and of all things, Dulcimer. A guy name Robert Downey (no, not the actor) inspired me, was my mentor. We played Arlo, Eagles, etc in coffee houses. I loved the exposure. had to quit for 10 years due to an injury (at my peak performance), but it's all coming back, except my favorite gendre is not Bluegrass (thanks AKUS, RV and the Rage and JD). I can sing, but not soprano as Alison can for sure!! I have no names for my guitars, but my 2nd guitar was a 1968 Les Paul Custom (fat neck) which I still own.

Well, I started of playing the fiddle, flute and clarinet when I was 4, mainly fiddle because I didn't have the lung capacity to play a wind instrument and the fiddle was my first choice. I still go to lessons two times a week because there is a contest I want to enter this summer. I'm soo nervous! I just want to find a mandolin, guitar and banjo player to play with. I think it completes the whole bluegrass sound! I have yet to name my fiddle. I just call it my old strad, because its a Stradivarius made in Germany and it is really old like circa 1720. It is soo beautiful, I had the fitting, finger board, and tail piece inlaid with abalone flower designs. I love it more than anything in the world! (besides my car) ;D

I mostly play guitar and drums right now. In school I played trombone, valvebone, baritone, saxaphone, trumpet, bass guitar, coronet, and the bass drum. I guess you could say that I liked to learn. I played guitar and did most of the singing in a christian band called 3:16, we wrote all of our own music and went to different churches to spread the Gospel of Christ. It was alot of fun. I would love to pick up playing the dobro just for fun and maybe try to get it into the christian stream of music. I love Ron Block in the way that he composes his lyrics. Who knows maybe some where in the future we could all get together and just have a jam session. Now that would be cool!! I live about 60 mins. from St. Louis, could you tell me when and where the GMHT is held? I would love to go. Dubz.

You all amaze me. I envy you your talent, and your knowledge. My life took me in another direction, and there was never any music in it. Until the 90's , when I just happened to hear Alison. It was like being hit with a bat. Since then, I sop up music, I let it pour over me, I listen to everything. Starting with Alison, and then following where she led. I have no idea what people are talking about when they discuss music, but am in awe of anyone who has that understanding.

thanks kmr (aksufan14) and houseghost. Oh my word, KMR you crack me up girl!! really, once you learn one instrument, the rest become easier (well, as far as stringed stuff goes, well, at least that's how it was for me.... anwyays) and that's how I picked them all up..... but really I just need to focus on my fiddle right now, and my guitar for songwriting. but lately my songwriting has SUCKED. it seems like all the stuff I write is really goofy or it doesnt give off emotion that i want, or something goes WRONG! grrr. I need someone to write for me. and i need guitar lessons. and a new guitar. a new fiddle for that matter. LOL. I was stupid and bought cheap instruments in the beginning. now i'm stuck with crappy ones until jan. when i'm SUPPOSED to get a new violin....but thats still a maybe....and lord only knows when the new guitar is gonna happen. but i'll be patient. maybe god wants me to wait for a little while, and i'm cool with that. OOHHHH!!! they are playing two highways by AK on the bluegrass channel!!!! YES! LOL.....well after that song is over ....i'm going to bed. nightie night! dont let the bed bugs bite yall! ;D

I did actually play violin as a kid for a couple of years, until we found out why I was having trouble with one aspect - because my left ring finger just doesn't move right to let me get the notes with any strength - an aspiring career cut short, probably for the better for everyone else's ears! lol
