That's really cool. Thanks for the heads up. You know I wonder if AK does any golfing herself? Hmm...

Alison is slated to perform with the Funk Brothers but does anyone know in which hour they'll perform? USA network is only carrying the ceremonies from 5-6pm; but the Golf channel will carry it from 4-6pm for those of you lucky enough to get that.

I just saw her perform on there. She was so fantastic. It was great. She sang "You Can't Hurry Love" alone and "Get Ready " with the other vocalist and was marvelous at them. She has such a beautiful voice and it was extraordinary on there. I just can't say enough about how wonderful she was. She can even do motown how cool is that. But I wasn't suprised she can anything and everything. Another place of proof that Alison is the best.

Here's an edited review of the opening ceremonies: Motown pumps up opener The usually staid opening ceremonies for the Ryder Cup got a serious injection of Motown soul on Thursday courtesy of the Funk Brothers, the unsung heroes of Hitsville who lent their heartbeat grooves and Midas touch to a trio of diverse singers -- bluegrass crossover star Alison Krauss, contemporary folk singer Ben Taylor and R&B star Chaka Khan... Still, execution was mixed. Krauss was as magnificent as a three-iron knocked stiff, bringing focused passion and a beautifully modulated voice and phrasing to "Can't Hurry Love." Taylor's low-key reading of Smokey Robinson's "Tracks of My Tears" made its points with welcome restraint, but still needed more oomph... Regrettably, Khan's version of "What's Going On" was a mess of unintelligible diction and melismatic flourishes that obliterated Marvin Gaye's lyric poetry. But at least the trio of headliners, with Jackson chiming in and the Funk Brothers laying it down, sent the teams strutting out in style. The song? "Get Ready." ----------------------------- For the full review go to www.freep.com/sports/othersports/rydercup/stryker17e_20040917.htm

Even though I'm the one that started this thread I somehow managed to miss the Opening Ceremonies. I was wondering if anyone had it on tape and was willing to send me a copy. I would of course pay for the tape as well as S&H and whatever else you felt was fair.

I missed the performance too and the chance to tape it. If I can get a copy of someone's tape, I would edit to the songs by Alison, digitize it, and post it here, so everyone can see it. Also, I could extract the audio and convert to MP3s for downloading.

Good news and bad news on the tape. I have the first song on tape Ms. Krauss did with the Funk Brothers. The bad news is just as she was introduced for the second song and about to start, a strong thunderstorm rolled through and knocked out my power, so I do not have the second song.
If you are interested in what I have, let me know. I'll share

The "Official" AKUS site just posted that Alison will be performing at the Ryder Cup ---just a little late. Also, I don't believe I saw anything on the CMT site. Unless you were checking this site or doing your own poking around, I would guess that you missed her performance no matter how big of a fan you are. Thanks to everyone posting on this site to let us know what's going on with AKUS.

I have "You Can't Hurry Love" video thanks to "LoveBluGrass". The first 30 seconds have some tracking skips, and it sounds like the soundman didn't quite have the mics set up right at first, but after the first half minute there is only one word for this performance ---WOW. It's posted with "Sawin on the Strings" at homepage.mac.com/zdje13/Flameworthy/Flameworthy.html
