Alison is in the November Vanity Fair, out October 10th, listed as a 'virtuoso' alongside Ralph Stanley. Here's how they see the rest of country music:
VANITY FAIR TIPS TEN-GALLON HAT TO COUNTRY MUSIC
In a wonderful twist of high brow meets blue collar, Vanity Fair has focused its Seventh Annual Music Issue on country music. The Country-and-Western Portfolio is part of the November issue which is already out in New York and Los Angeles, and will be on newsstands nationwide on Oct. 10. The magazine says that “No one in the Nashville country-music establishment has used the phrase ‘country and western’ for years, but when Merle Haggard, Lyle Lovett, and Emmylou Harris all approved the term, Vanity Fair decided to bring it back.” Photos were shot on location all over the United States by photographers Mark Seliger, Jonas Karlsson, Marc Baptiste, Danny Clinch, and Norman Jean Roy. Highlights include Lee Ann Womack pictured on the grounds of George Jones' estate, serving sweet tea in an Old South setting; and Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, and Billy Currington in a Thelma and Louise type photo.
Included are the following country stars with headings that are as accurate as they are self-explanatory:
THE REBELS: Shelby Lynne, Willie Nelson, and Shooter Jennings
THE HILLBILLY ROCK STAR: Kenny Chesney.
THE REDNECK WOMAN: Gretchen Wilson
THE PROS: Lee Ann Womack and George Jones
