Hey my people, just writing from the public library computer in Nashville, been here 4 days, "charting" is done on my songs and now comes the hiring of the studio musicians. Probably best I don't name any names until they actually show up, but to get an idea of who is being asked, read the fine print at the back of the booklets of the last couple of Alison's CDs!
Weather is rainy, but I do love this city SO MUCH!!!!! Will write more later, especially if y'all ask me questions.
Sat at a red light yesterday, in the car in the next lane was the lead female singer from Lady Antebellum. What a lead foot she's got!!

Well, Stuart came and laid down guitar, fiddle, mandolin & viola tracks on 10 of my songs. The resulting work is so heart-rendingly beautiful it is making it hard for me to sing the vocals without breaking up!! AND, the man's picture probably appears in the dictionary next to the definition for the word "gentleman". What a nice guy!!! We got along great. We talked about a lot of different interesting things.
Now we have calls in to two other people whose names you definitely know, hoping to get a call back by Monday, or make other plans. Can'tv tell youk their+ namesj just yetd, but let's see how smart y'all are........

Well, today, in about 2 hours, we've got Aubrey Hainie (the guy that did fiddle on Stacy's project, and a well-known and well-respected young fiddle player, won Musician of the Year this year at the ACMs!) coming to do 5 fiddle tracks, the ones that Stuart didn't have time for. Next week Justin Moses (Dan's dobro player) is coming to do the dobro tracks, and Stacy herself is (maybe, not confirmed yet) coming to do one duet with me.

Well, it is now Tuesday, yesterday Viktor came and played all the bass tracks! What a NICE GUY!!!!!! And a really great bass player. I tried to talk him into using the bow on a couple of songs, but after hearing what he did without it I changed my mind. Got him to sign his portion of my Different Strokes album. He actually complimented my songs, coming from him that is high praise indeed. We got along real well. Later after I get home to own computer, I will post some photos of Stuart, Viktor, Justin Moses and others; right now at this library computer it's just not possible for me. Viktor also indicated that there was some hope for the biggest thing I will try with this project.
All we (my producer and myself) can do is try. More later.
From Nashville Tennessee, turbo signing off for today.

Okay, I'm back. Drove 2137 miles in 30 hours, then slept 12.
Well, "the biggest thing" didn't happen. But with the quality of the recording that we have done, and the people that were involved, probably it will happen anyway, most likely one very special pair of ears will hear it sooner or later.
All told, we got Stuart Duncan on rhythm guitar, mandolin and fiddle on 9 songs, and guitar and viola on one more, then Aubrey Hainie on fiddle and mandolin on the other 5; Viktor on bass on all 15, Justin Moses (Dan's dobroist, and plays almost exactly like Jerry) on 12 songs, plus a well-known banjoist, Richard Bailey, and on two songs we got a great pedal-steel player, Steve Hinson, who plays with Randy Travis. On one song, when he asked me how he wanted him to play, I told him, "Think Ray Price, 1961." And he did it just that way. On the second, I said, "Think Tammy Wynette, 1969." And he did it that way, and it was GORGEOUS!!!!!
And, lest I forget! Stacy came and did a duet with me, and her part of it blows away my part! But mine is the only voice I've got so I guess it will have to work. My producer has made me sound as good as possible on the recording.
All of the musician and singers who came and worked on the project were super-nice people, and so the project is entirely "jerk-free"".
Stacy came with her hubby, and "the apple of her eye", her son Elijah. What a cute kid! And you can pretty much talk to him as you would to an adult, he is smart as a whip. Wouldn't let go of his new toy, a violin bow.
I said it B4 but I'll say it again, you won't find a better bass player nor a sweeter guy than Viktor. New friend.
And each of the players complemented my on my songs. My producer told me that he thought the complements were genuine; he said that in his experience in the music biz, if they don't like your songs they just don't say anything, but that if they complement you it's probably how they really feel. So I am very encouraged.
Later I will find the disc with the photos taken during the sessions, and edit the photos into my posts above. That's all 4 now!
