^^^ #8 is pure freaking bull crap! Alison should have been at the top and no where else!!! If she wasn't good enough to be at the top then why does she have more Grammy awards than any other lady in the history of music period??? God bless you and her always!!!

Yeah, and why isn't GAC and CMT playing her new video?? I smell a conspiracy. If she were featured more, then other phoney-baloney "artists" might have to up their game to meet higher expectations, can't have that, can we??

^^^ Amen! The person that I am the most sick of is Carrie Underwood. To me she will never be one eighth as good as Alison and I guarantee that I am not the only person who has such an opinion of her. Over the years I have heard from plenty of people both online and off who think that Carrie is over rated. God bless you and Alison always!!!

Okay nascarholly, this is probably because I'm a guy and like shapely blondes, but I got nothin' against Carrie. Of course she's not 1/100th the all-around artist Alison is, no one is, but Carrie is a cute chick, she appears to be a nice good person, she's a better-than-average singer (certainly better than that caterwauling shrew Jennifer Nettles, whose voice gives me the hives!) and I am happy that she found a nice guy to marry. Of course, now that her name is legally Carrie Fisher, I am waiting for her to star as Princess Leia in the next Star Wars episode. Ha Ha.... One more note on Carrie - remember her song and video, "Before He Cheats"?? I saw a slightly different version of that song on YouTube the other day, y'oughta check it out, it's a peach..... (not for kids!!)..... www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVThSgy1MSA

I believe part of the reason Alison doesn't score higher is the stage presence she has. Alison sings so effortlessly and locks in that unblinking expresion that it looks as if she is not trying. If only she would practice shutting her eyes and make her veins pop out of her neck...THAT would raise her a few notches. And then she could work out some dance moves with the boys, sing about pick-up trucks and songs that have the line "kiss my ass" in it, and if she could only muster up an occasional tear during a particularly wrenching line...FIRST PLACE!!
Seriously,...it's never going to happen. The country music writers hall of shame...er,...fame inducted Taylor Swift into their club when she was only 20. I SAID TWENTY YEARS OLD!!...WHAT A JOKE!!!! Think of the list of great writers who have been around more than a year or two like Ms. Swift who will never get a wiff of the hall of fame. There are certain darlings in the business that are going to get all the props.
One thing for certain...these people can't ignore the 880 lb. gorilla in the room with 27 grammys, so they have to put her on the list due to scoreboard!

Very well said..Gratefuldave...Alison is by far the most talented artist of our time...for me..I'd say ..for any time...the vote on this was basically just a fan vote..and we know that people like Taylor and Carrie have all the young lady fans who will stay up all day and night just to cast a vote for them. I think the real test here is..let's count Grammys...that is one vote from other artists who are truly qualified to judge another artist's work. I find it just fascinating that Alison appreciates the many awards that she has won, but never seems to let it influence the work she does.I believe she does what she does for the love of the music, and would do her music the same way, if she had never won..even one award...Now to me that is so much of the beauty and mystery of Alison.

This thread is all the more apropos since Alison has actually won that 27th Grammy now, (sorry gratefuldave, at the time you posted it was only 26 - "only" - ha!!) and maybe a 28th, the argument is still raging about that.
But calling her an 800-pound gorilla?? I think you could have come up with a more graceful metaphor. Like being unable to ignore the lightning in the sky, or the sweetest rose in the garden, something like that. Just sayin'.....
