As of Monday, August 8 Paper Airplane has sold 260,000 copies and is ranked 50th in sales for 2011. Of albums released in 2011 Paper Airplane is roughly 24th. Of course, Jason Aldean's My Kind of Party has sold in excess of 900,000 copies this year.
I bought two additional copies last night for friends. So, now it is 260,011. lol
I don't know how this compares to Lonely Runs Both Ways 4 months after release. Does anyone know?

Jason Aldean is getting all the promotion whereas almost no one in my town even is aware that Alison is still recording and touring. And Aldean can't sing, in my opinion. Just another macho bull among many. Where's the justice??

I get the information on www.ukmix.org/forums . The data appears every week or two on the 2011 YTD Albums thread-United States If you want to follow country music sales only, Country Music Roughstock has a blog that runs the information weekly.

Although AK is probably not really interested in the following information; Paper Airplane has been number one on the Billboard Bluegrass charts for 28 weeks with US sales closing in 300,000. (As compared to Adele's 4,000,000---which she justly deserves btw----but simply reveals the difference in music markets). Keep in mind that Lonely was number one for over a year.
The Grammy submission lists were distributed to members last week and the nominees will be announced on television in mid-November. So, you have to wonder in what categories Rounder submitted Paper Airplane. Any thoughts??

^^^ Mid November is when the Grammy award nominations will be announced? Normally they are announced in early December.
God bless you and AKUS always!!!

If I said I was looking forward to anything in my life more than next year's Grammys I'd be lying.

Ditto
I want her to win----and she will just have to learn to live with the accolades.
The TV Nominations Concert is scheduled for November 30.

If I said I was looking forward to anything in my life more than next year's Grammys I'd be lying. True, I loved seeing Alison and Robert win 5 Grammys for Raising Sand in 2009. ;D

I plan to offer sexual favors to someone in the Recording Academy in exchange for Grammy tickets the year that Alison gets her 32nd Grammy. I need to be there for that.

As I remember silverqueen, you said you would kill to attend AK's 20th anniversary at the Opry and now you are soliciting to be at the Grammys when she receives her 32nd: I am concerned about your moral decay. ;D

My philosophy re: AKUS can be summed up with a Laura Marling lyric: "I'll keep on going, I've got nothing to lose/I gave up morals when I took up you." In short,
