SQ: Saratoga is definitely close to home but the 'when' could be the problem. There is no venue or date provided; but my schedule this spring and summer is chaotic. Once some reliable information is provided about a/some northern California dates, I may buy tickets and just accept the risk that I won't be able to go.

greenmoray...Hang in there for a possible freebie! If AKUS is playing in Saratoga in late September, I can't imagine them NOT playing "The Hardly, Strictly Bluegrass Festival" a few days later. The best time you could have and it's FREE!!! Just start looking at the line-up for the festival on their site starting around late August to see if AKUS has committed to playing there. They haven't played there since the first year the festival started so they are long overdue! I've seen Alison with Robert Plant and Jerry a few times there. Can't ask for a better time and atmosphere!!
The show was amazing like my first one. What made it extra special was...you'll never guess...I MET MY HERO JERRY DOUGLAS backstage after the show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Due to an amazing, unforgettable, incredibly generous gesture on Jerry's part, my dream came true.
Jerry sought me and my sister out after he came into the big room backstage when we were off to the side waiting. He was warm and friendly and attentive to what I had to say. He looks at you when you talk to him. He didn’t hesitate signing my CD and correcting it when he spelled my name wrong even though I didn’t care. lol He makes you feel like the only person in the room and that you’re a friend, not just a “fan” and a ‘hi and a handshake’ and that’s it. He didn’t rush me and let me say whatever I wanted and listened. He was more than happy to take a picture with me and move down to my level because he’s taller than me. lol When I thanked him for his generosity, he thought nothing of it. When I told him that it was the best day of my life, he humbly dismissed it saying, “Oh, there’ll be better days.”
I want everyone to meet Jerry. He is a beautiful person inside and out. I am so incredibly grateful and thankful to have met him. ♥
