ALISON KRAUSS & UNION STATION
London 2011 [no label, 1CD]
Live at the Mermaid Theatre, London, UK; May 12, 2011. Excellent FM stereo broadcast (BBC Radio 2 In Concert).
Bluegrass singer Alison Krauss might have warmed the hearts of her fans with her appearances on the O Brohter, Where Art Thou? and Cold Mountain soundtracks; and her collaboration with Robert Plant certainly broadened her reach, not to mention contributing to her overall take of 26 Grammy Awards.
She released her latest album, Paper Airplane, on April 12, 2011 (first album from Alison Krauss & Union Station in seven years) and a month later, she kicked off her London show with songs from the new album - the title track, Dust Bowl Children and Lay My Burden Down. And their cover of The Foundations hit, Baby, Now That I’ve Found You, is sheer joy.
Thanks to Wendy152 for taping the show and sharing the tracks on Dime.
