To me it is time to being this award back. Instead of Don Williams and Alison, Little Big Town got the Best Country Duo/Group Performance award last night. God bless you and them and Don and Alison always!!! Holly P.S. Why do I get the feeling that certain Grammy awards don't exist anymore so that it is harder for Alison to get more of them?

I got the same idea. But Alison didn't release an album this year, and I think it's still quite cool that she got nominated anyway. But I think it has something to do with the fact that some of the winners had big international hits. I am from The Netherlands, and most of the winners had big hits over here as well as in the US. Alison is not very known over here and I think she never had a big hit in our charts. At least, not for the past few years. The funny thing is, that when she comes here for a concerts, it is sold-out pretty fast....

That's pretty standard with Alison, though. Most of her music doesn't chart here in the US, either. But she's able to sell out concerts and win Grammys because, even though her music doesn't appeal to the mainstream, it appeals very strongly to certain subsets of people: bluegrass fans, upper-class people who listen to NPR and buy CDs from Starbucks, and music industry folks (i.e. Grammy voters).
Holly is right, though. Since the Grammys cut out a bunch of categories, it's harder for Alison to win. There are more big competitors squeezed into a smaller number of categories.
