Also, I just saw that this movie is rated G, lasts 82 minutes, and opened last week in Chattanooga. It sounds like one of those movies that will get little publicity, so unless you are looking for it you will probably miss it. Can't find anything else about the songs in it.

Here's a little more information from the composer's website. Sounds like he had a good time working with Alison. There is a sound clip there, but no Alison on it unless she played the fiddle. www.charliebarnett.com/audio.htmlDoug

I just found the release on Paper Clips and was really glad to see you had already posted this Doug. Why was I not surprised to discover that Alison sings three of the songs in the film? ;D It sounds like an incredibly sensitive and worthwhile project, one worthy of all our viewing, even if Alison wasn't involved. Thanks also for posting the link to the composer's site. His comment on working with Alison, the "genuinely funny singer [who] stole his heart", was pricesless!

I just saw the documentary "Paper Clips." I have always studied the holocaust and am horrified that it ever happened. There wasn't much about the actual holocaust itself, just the story behind a small middle school north of Chattanooga that learned more than they bargained for in studying and memorializing Holocaust victims and survivors. I was sorry that I had not heard of Whitwell before since it did get so much national and world publicity for what they had done. In addition, Alison did sing one song during the movie and I think they played it once during the movie and at the end and throughout the credits. I waited until after the credits to see about the song she sang. It was traditional music with the lyrics written by the guy who composed the music for the documentary. Needless to say, the song and Alison were a perfect match. Even my roommate, who's not a huge Alison fan like myself, thought it was amazing. The lyrics fit the content to the documentary perfectly. If you all get the chance to see this film, it will be worth your time. I left feeling there is hope in this crazy world. Whitwell is not far from where I live and plan to visit sometime soon.

PS One very interesting fact I learned from the movie was that the paper clip was not invented for holding papers together! I think it was the Norwegians who made them and wore them to protest the Germans back when the Holocaust was taking place because they were not allowed to speak of it so instead they wore these paper clips as their way of protesting.

I watched it probably a few weeks ago, and was so amazed with the film. It was so inspiring, and made me just realize so much about the world. It was so incredible to see what that one little town did to remind others of the history of this world, and all the work they put in so that the lost could be remembered forever. It's so interesting to see in one documentary so much hurt and anger in the world, but yet so much love and innocence. It was truly inspiring to me, and I encourage anyone who hasn't seen it, to watch it. Never do I look at a paper clip in the same way.
I agree about the song. Alison did a breathtaking performance of it, and it made me tear up a little. It fit her perfectly, and I can't think of anyone else who would make the song have the same effect. She's the greatest.. what else could be said?
