I didn't know there was a controversy I've seen way more than that shown and without the lace covering. I thought the pictures made her look very ethereal with the backlighting. A similar thing happened at a state fair concert I went to, but it was a regular skirt so not as revealing. Either way, I don't see how it's a bid deal when I've seen Shania wear bikini tops as shirts and micro-minis with go-go boots (I actually heard in an interview that Shania hates her legs or she'd have probably been showing them off, too lol). I don't think anything about Shania, either, I'm just painting a comparison. Leigh Ann Rimes wore that one shredded looking ensemble once, too, that covered far less. I thought Alison looked like a very classy sort of sexy. I hold to my original opinion that the dress is to die for and I'd wear it, too (that is if I could make it look that good...which I can't lol). Stacy

I don't really understand what all the fuss is about either. Alison looked so gorgeous. Yeah, she showed some skin, but who doesn't these days?? And it's almost like... oh Lord, the girl's got legs.. who'd have thought? I mean, cause that is so unusual for a human being. lol. I think she looked absolutely amazing and never did I think she looked inappropriate. Her dress was a little more revealing than other things I've seen her in, but we all know she had no intention of trying to look inappropiate.. only like a woman in an amazing dress at an award show.

No, I don't think there was anything about it that should be thought inappropriate.
I hope I don't sound mean, though, if I say I think I've actually known her choose more flattering outfits. This was a striking choice, but something about the combination of lighting and dress out on stage didn't quite work for me.
That said, I still think she looked beautiful (more due to Alison than the dress, perhaps, which is probably how it should be!)

That was jaw-dropping, with the light angle and all. She seems more beautiful by the year.
Is it just my TV or was there really some sound problem at the start of their performance?

No, it wasn't your tv. There were some issues with the mic at first, but they fixed it after a few seconds.. which really was entirely too long for me. But, things happen. Alison handled it really well though.. but what else would you expect? She's a pro. And she did look very beautiful.

She could wear sack cloth and ashes for all I care. I just shut my eyes and hear that magical voice. It's just a bonus when our "bluegrass girl" shows New York what a confident beautiful artist she is. GOOD FOR YOU ALISON

Alison was certainly covered appropriately but I wonder if her being that revealing was intentional or accidental. She certainly gave lip-service to Mom, but knowing her sense of humor she probably could care less what anyone thought. ;D ;D ;D

What's the lip service she gave? I missed the whole awards show. I've noticed, though, that CMT is re-airing it...how far into the show is the performance?

Not sure what was meant by the lip-service comment, but Alison appears at just after the two hour mark. I think she performs right after Keith Urban, they go to commercial, then she performs, then they do Female Vocalist of the year.
