Billy Jonas' Prophetic and Timely Tune on New DVD 'Everybody's in the Band'
ASHEVILLE, N.C., Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- When singer/songwriter Billy Jonas visited the Pacific Northwest in 1990, 10 years after Mount St. Helens first erupted, he was inspired to write the song, "Old St. Helen," featured on his award-winning CD and music videos. The song is both a celebration of the colorful aspects of the 1980 eruption and an engaging and informative historical portrait of the event.
With the recent seismic activity on the mountain, there is even greater interest in Billy's new DVD, "Everybody's in the Band," which includes "Old St. Helen" as a music video DVD extra. (MP3s and DVDs available at www.billyjonas.com and http://www.ivyvideo.com.) The new DVD features a guest appearance by Alison Krauss. ("Old St. Helen" is also included on his music CD, "What Kind of Cat Are You?!")
Embraced by schools across the country where Billy has performed, "Old St. Helen" has become a favorite at his concerts. In this highly interactive tune, Billy uses recycled "re-percussion" instruments and body movements to convey the earth-shattering excitement of Mount St. Helens, proving there's a bit of humor in everything, including volcanic eruptions.
For Billy Jonas, the audience is his main instrument. According to Billy, any person can make music, "anywhere and anytime, with anyone and anything." Viewers are invited to participate with finger snapping, hand clapping and foot stomping as Billy makes music with buckets, bottles and anything that clings and clangs.
Jonas has won a Parents' Choice Gold Award and the AFIM Indie Award for his 2002 family recording, "What Kind of Cat Are You?!" His first music video, "Bangin' and Sangin'," also won a Parents' Choice Gold Award and national acclaim. Jonas' recordings for adult and general audiences have also won wide national acclaim. His newest CD, "Get Real," will be available November 1.
Everybody's in the Band, along with Jonas' CDs and tour schedule, are available at www.billyjonas.com. To order products by phone, call Ivy Video 800-669-4057.
