Here's an update on the announcement that Alison is producing Alan Jackson's next album:
"Alan Jackson Enlists Alison Krauss as Producer
Alan Jackson's next album will be produced by Alison Krauss for scheduled release in late September. During the Grand Ole Opry's concert at Carnegie Hall last year, Jackson and Krauss talked backstage about possibly recording a bluegrass album together. After returning to Nashville, Jackson and Krauss recorded some songs -- although not bluegrass -- and they will complete the album this summer."
No mention if Alison will also be singing on the album.

I dunno, that would be cool if she was performing, but maybe she'll be playing her wonderful fiddle!!

The following article from Country Weekly sheds a little more light on the upcoming album:
================
ALAN TAPS ALISON FOR NEW CD
Alan Jackson has given the nod to Alison Krauss to produce his new CD, which will be released in September.
The two had worked together before when Alison recorded "The Angels Cried" with Alan for his 1993 Honky Tonk Christmas album. But this new partnership evolved when Alan and Alison appeared at the Grand Ole Opry at Carnegie Hall show last November. They had a casual conversation about possibly making a bluegrass record, but Alison suggested a different approach, and they agreed to record a few songs. Alan was so pleased by the results that he asked Alison to help him complete the album. This marks another breakthrough for female artists as producers. This year, Lari White produced Toby Keith's White Trash With Money CD.
==================
I wonder what the "different approach" is...

I don't know what the "approach" will be other than a winning "approach". That young lady sure does have a musical genius strain in her , and I can't wait for Sept. If only she would sing on it also. Probably not , if she sings, it's either with Union Station , or her own albums.

Alison often performs with people other than Union Station, including Alan Jackson. You're right though houseguest, she sure does have a musical genius strain in her!

I knew when I wrote that, that it was not clear. I meant that Alison will "Quest" on a record,but she does not have albums out that are titled Allison Krauss and Somebody Sing Something She just does things in a quiet way. Maybe Alan Jacksons' album will have Alison doing harmony, and written in small letters in the linear notes will be "produced by Alison Krauss"

Ran across this review at barnes and nobleBarnes & Noble. I can't wait till Sept so I can buy it!
The standardbearer for country music tradition, Alan Jackson returns with a deeply personal album produced by bluegrass superstar Alison Krauss. Originally intending to do a bluegrass recording, Krauss, Jackson, and a who's-who of acoustic music instead found themselves crafting a country music fan's dream. Like Red on a Rose features one of country's biggest stars in a gorgeously crafted, sophisticated setting that's nearly an anachronism in today's high-gloss Nashville. With guests Lee Ann Womack, Dan Tyminski, Jerry Douglas, Ron Block, and Howard Levy, among others, it's a musicianly album with plenty of mainstream appeal, as witnessed by the fast-rising single, the atmospheric "Like Red on a Rose."
