Just ran across this: All the songs on Different Strokes are instrumentals. Alison Krauss only plays on four out of the twelve tracks: Sally Goodin’, Dusty Miller, Grey Eagle, and Nick’s Noodle. She does her usual exemplary job playing the fiddle even though she was only fourteen at the time. Contrary to popular belief, the album was not released by a small, independent label called Fiddle Tunes. It was never released by any label at all. The term Fiddle Tunes appears in quotation marks on the cover of the album jacket and is therefore the subtitle of the album. The album was recorded in December 1985 at the Crusade Studio in Flora, IL. Source : musicmoz.org/Bands_and_Artists/K/Krauss,_Alison/Discography/Different_Strokes/Reviews/

I was told that Alison and Jim Hoiles play fiddle on alternate tracks on the CD. Alison's contributions are very "Alison" ~ you can easily pick them out. It amazed me that she was playing so well even then . Victor plays bass on most tracks. Bruce "Swamp" Weiss plays guitar and mandolin plus the bass on some tracks. Copies of the CD are occassionally made available so be sure to check these boards plus eBay, etc. Hope this helps Keisha!
