I found Alison Krauss and the Union Station on You Tube, because an American girl recommended me 2 weeks ago, as an example the folk root music in USA. We both like a Hungarian folk music root band the NOX. I was curious similar folk music origin music from the USA. She wrote me about more artists (for example I knew Johnny Cash) and I stopped at Alison Krauss. I have listened to this music for a week and I became a fan. I like very much the sound of the fiddle and her voice. Here Hungary nobody knows Alison Krauss and the Union Station. I did a poll among my acquaintances and they did not know them. I have a dream (but I am not an American president), it would be great if the NOX and the AKUS were together with the NOX on a concert in Budapest. Before the concert the radio stations play music from them in Hungary. I am sorry for my wrong English.

Well, I am sorry but like I say, not really my taste! For one thing I don't hear any of these instruments in the videos you link to. All I hear is electronics. Also I don't see them play any of these instruments. Now the original folksong would be way closer to my taste! Especially since I heard a fiddle there. ;D Though I would call it more a folk dance tune than a folk song, if you know what I mean? I see what you mean when you say they make a modern remake of a traditional folk song but, and this is just my personal opinion, I don't know for sure what other AKUS fans will say, this is very different from what AKUS does. They don't take a traditional song and just put an electronic modern sounding beat to it. To me it seems AKUS take a traditional kind of music and play it "traditionally" but from the perspective of people born, raised and living in the present time. It's not a modernizing of roots music but a continuation of roots music! But like I say, I am just talking my personal take and taste here. And we all know you can't argue taste!

Unfortunately I have discoverd them recently and I listened to my first found favorits non stop. For example I put a video into flv player, and one song goes non stop 1 or 1,5 hours and I wonder on the Net. I do not understand me, but I do not get bored with their music.

Well, you came to the right place in that case...we don't get bored with their music either. And you are in for a treat because if those favorites are all you have heard so far I can tell you there's lots and lots more where that came from!

Hi Tal
First of all thank you for the articles from Wiki about blue grass music and Alison and Union Station. I learnt the blue grass is a folk root music, which origins from the 1940's. Alison is a famous star in North America, but here in Hungary nobody knows her and the Union Station. Unbeliveble, when we were in Sicilly last year, our nephews listened to crazy Italian music in the country of the melodious music . I am glad this sort of music begans to be more popular in the US. By the way I like every good music from the classical (Mozart and Beethoven) to the electronic (Kraftwerk), from the disco (Bee Gees) to the folk dance music, from the Beatles to the Rock'n Roll and now from the Dixiland to the Bluegrass. I found something in Southhungary, I live in Budapest: Az idei (VI.) Nemzetközi Bluegrass és Akusztikus Zenei Fesztivál 2008. augusztus 1-3. között lesz Abaliget–tóparton. I have just read in Hungary the Association of the Bluegrass Music Hungary has just been founded from the Net. I hope I will listened to Alison and the Union Station from the radio stations soon. I am listening to "The Lucky One".

Some of the favorite AKUS videos you listed are some of my favorites as well, but it is rare that they come up with something that is not a favorite! Like you, avenaoat, I am a big fan of nearly everything. I tend to stay within my own language (other than French), however. For the reason of not understanding Hungarian, as well as it feeling pretty pop, I don't think I'll be a fan like you.. though some links I found interesting. Glad to have you here! It seems like you are very interested in Alison and the guys, and are interested in music in general. Welcome to the board! Looking forward to hearing more from you. And listening to a single song AKUS song for over an hour sounds very normal to me! haha

Hí Akusgal41790
This time I listened to My Poor Old Heart (my first favorit). Where can I get extra information about this band. For example I read Alison has child, but I do not know one/two or girl/boy. My opinion in her, she is more beautiful after becoming Mother. Her voice and fiddle playing are outsanding.

It has been a few years since I have actually done research to find out some things about Alison and the guys. I supposed you could just try google and read different biographies, which is also a good place for answering specific questions. Here is also a good place for asking questions! As for Alison's child, she has a son named Sam. He was born in July of 1999. She was married to Pat Bergeson from 1997 to 2001, a musician himself btw.
Another thing I tend to do to find out about artists is search for message boards, because fans usually hold a great deal of knowledge! Have fun and good luck with the searching!
