So, here's the chance to let everyone know what instruments you play, if you play any!
Mine is already in my sig, but I thought I'd start a topic to know what everyone else plays.
Plus, if you have names for your instruments, list them too! I think it's fun!
Also, if you have inspirations as to who inspired you to play that particular instrument, do tell!
Violin= Alison (named after AK of course!), inspired to play since my 8th grade English/German teacher played, and my family already inherited my Grandma's old 1916 violin.
Dobro= Jerry (after JD of course!), inspired to play by Emily Robison of the Dixie Chicks, just from the video, "I Can Love You Better."
Banjo= 5-String Pile Driver (that's what AK called a banjo once, lol!), inspired by Emily of the Dixie Chicks.
Mandolin= Sierra (after Sierra Hull), inspired by Sierra.
and flute= Mirage (the brand name)-- but the flute rarely gets mentioned, because it's not bluegrass, lol. inspired because I just picked out an instrument for middle school band!

I try to play the guitar. I'm really no good, but have fun with it anyway. I recently bought a 6-string banjo or a "guitjo" some people call them. It's pretty cool.

at the moment I am learning the mandolin. I also play the baritone saxophone, alto sax, piano, and I am going to start percussion next year. Fun stuff!

I play fiddle mainly, but have an interest in the mandolin and dobro.
I've been in jam sessions [senior center with musicians from 7 to 70]in North Platte NE, and have also played on stage in bars with musicians from the area, and also one from Nashville TN.
I moved to Nashville TN in 1996 and also had the chance to play on stage with a bands/musicians at Robert's Western Wear [home of BR549], and in Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, and on the steps of BMI on music row. Someone from a building nextdoor to BMI came out and took my picture.
A great experience living in Nashville

Fiddle- Sadie is her name. Ive always liked that name. I was inspired to play by Alison. Since she played fiddle I really really wanted to, lol.
Mandolin- Kimberly did you really name your mandolin Sierra?!!!? Me and Sierra H. have a joke about that because I too named my mandolin Sierra! How crazy is that!! Sierra is also an inspiration to me and taught me some stuff so I named it after her. Im glad Im not the only person who names my instruments:)

I play fiddle, guitar, mandolin, bass, and a little banjo. I cant figure out the dobro, but Im tryin I havent named my intruments. My brothers play also, Chris, he's 11, plays bass and Matthew, he's 7, play fiddle. We have a family band going and we play benifits, dinners, shows, guest band at bluegrass festivals, and stuff like that. I was gonna go to the GHMT in St. Louis, but there's a fiddle contest in Oklahoma and its the only national one in our area and my dad dosen't want me to miss it. I really want to go see Alison again, but I just can't

Well, I play Banjo mostly,( Bet you guessed that already) that is until I suffered a stroke back in 02 that pretty much took out most of my right side. I got most of the feeling back but when I play now it just seems sooo slooow. I might try the fiddle if it doesn't require too much right hand dexterity. My inspirations...well, Earl of course and John Hartford and as of lately Ron Block. My Banjo is named Pete after Pete Seager

I play clarinet, violin, tin whistle, and picked up the mandolin... nowhere near good enough yet!!! Clarinet- Leblanc I believe, that's the name brand and I play this one for 6 years in school! Violin- Natalie, actually. I just thought it was a great name for a violin so I named her Natalie.. no inspiration for the name, but to play it was because of Alison (of course) and Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek Tin Whistle- Clara. again, no inspiration except for this instrument seemed intriguing to me and just wanted to try it. Mandolin-Chris, named after Chris Thile of Nickel Creek. Ok, enough of my rambling ;D Jessica
